Alok Bal, born in 1969 in Orissa, studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. He has showcased his talent through Solo Shows in Mumbai (twice in 2006) and New Delhi (2007), along with participation in Group Shows across international cities like New York, London, South Africa, and major Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Baroda.
Bal's artistic focus delves into the repercussions of unrestricted urban growth and humanity's inclination to manipulate natural resources, leading to irreversible ecological changes. Through his art, he employs irony and skill to convey both fascination and disillusionment with metropolitan life.
His works are characterized by metaphorical usage of serene colors, flying figures, scratches, and realistically rendered attributes, all woven together like motifs that invite viewers on a profound journey beyond the surface. Bal's art evokes a sense of nostalgia and emotional depth while addressing contemporary urban challenges.
Currently residing and working in Baroda, Alok Bal continues to explore and express complex themes through his captivating artistic vision.
