Jayant Parikh is a Painter, Printmaker and a Muralist. Beginning with abstract art, his art continued through a year of Cubist experimentation. Because of their rhythmic forms, brilliant colors, vast compositions, and rhythmic patterns, Jayant's works have the ability to develop a relevant visual language. Figurative forms influenced by Indian classical musicians and dancers are another recurrent theme in his work. His works are influenced by the natural world and his surroundings, which include havelis, festivals, markets, small villages, farms, forests, and holy sites. He even mastered the traditional Malkhamb acrobatic form. His works feature human figures that are inspired by acrobatics. He began to create his unique, rhythmic painting technique around 1970.
He received the National award for painting Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1970 and 1980 for Graphic. 1971, 1974, 1979 received the Gujarat Lalit Kala Award, 1965 Gold medal at International book and art exhibitionLeipzig Germany , 1962 Diploma of Merit at first international art exhibition in Saigon and 2008 Gujarat Gaurav Puraskar by Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academi. He has participated in the Third Triennale in India.
He lives and works in Vadodara.
