"My deep concerns with society and with human life, animals and nature are reflected in my works”
Naina Dalal's art has evolved over time in a natural way. It began with an emphasis on the simple things in life and ended with a reminder that it is these small things that build up major events, whether upheavals or tragedies. She succeeds in opening a window into the individual prisons our bodies may become if we limit ourselves to the fact that we must inevitably face death and fail to recognise that the flow of life regenerates itself constantly and that we are active components of that generation for a brief period of time. In her nearly thirty-year body of work, these aspects of life define her as an artist because her images have value for others as well as for herself.
She exhibited in several solo and group shows, Biennale at Bhopal, Jammu, Damascus, Pondicherry, Oakland, New York, and Baroda. She has won several awards in Graphics and painting along with a fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for Printmaking. First prize in painting, Bombay state art exhibition in 1960. Winning in the Gujarat State Art Exhibition for Lithography in 1961, 1968, 1981.
