Sajal Sarkar, originally from Kolkata, graduated in Painting in 1989 and later pursued Graphics (Printmaking) in Baroda. His art evolved from academic surrealism to contemporary experimentation, influenced by photography and magazines. Sarkar's focus on the male nude form reflects strength and tension without vulgarity. He blends classical realism with personal manipulation, occasionally including the female form alongside. While preferring oils, he also uses charcoal, sometimes creating an etching-like effect. Recent works integrate computer-generated imagery for vivid representations. Sarkar's exhibitions, including solo shows like 'Open Ended' (2007), and group exhibitions like 'Signs Taken for Wonders' (2008-09), showcase his diverse techniques and thematic exploration. He's received grants and scholarships, residing and working in Baroda.
